The Department of Training and Workforce Development is seeking input from industry on workforce challenges and opportunities. Industry insights will help shape the new WA workforce strategy and strengthen the future workforce across key industries.
The WA Workforce Strategy will provide a shared understanding of WA’s future workforce needs and outline the short, medium and long‑term actions required to build a strong, sustainable and future‑ready workforce. It will focus on the workforce challenges and opportunities facing key industries as WA continues to diversify and grow its economy.
Priority industries include defence, clean energy, building and construction, advanced manufacturing, care, tourism and hospitality, which align with the State’s broader economic priorities for 2025–2029.
Industry will play a leading role in shaping the Strategy. Businesses and stakeholders are invited to share their insights on workforce challenges, opportunities and the actions they believe will have the greatest impact on strengthening their industry’s workforce.
Your feedback will also help inform practical strategies to:
- strengthen workforce attraction and retention
- build, align and strengthen training and workforce pathways
- improve workforce participation
- support collaboration and coordination of workforce planning between industry, government and the training sector.
Stakeholders can contribute their views through a short questionnaire.
Consultation closes on Thursday 30 April 2026.
